Introduction
Natural Resveratrol extracted from Polygonum Cuspidatum root( Giant Knotweed).
named Huzhang ("tiger cane") is an east Asian species (Polygonum cuspidatum),
belonging to the Polygonaceaefamily. Contemporary medical uses supported by
clinical results include acute microbial infections or viral hepatitis, chemo- or
radiation-induced leukocytopenia, atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia.
Resveratrol is a naturally occurring phytoalexin produced by some higher plants in response to injury or fungal infection.
Resveratrol may also have alexin-like activity for humans. Epidemiological, in vitro and animal studies suggest
that a high resveretrol intake is associated with a reduced incidence of cardiovascular disease, and a reduced risk for cancer.
