Introduction

Pine bark extract is made from the bark of the maritime pine tree (Pinus Massoniana Lamb),
which contains naturally occurring chemicals called proanthocyanidins and Polyphenol.
Early studies have shown possible benefits in reducing swelling from a circulation disorder
called chronic venous insufficiency. Other early studies have suggested it may help lower blood sugar
in some diabetic patients. Laboratory studies have indicated pine bark extract
may have some antioxidant properties.
 
Pine bark extract has been patented by a French researcher under the name
Pycnogenol (pronounced pick-nah-jen-all). 
Pine Bark OPCs help Vitamin C to work better in the brain to effectively
synthesize the neurotransmitters norepinephirine, dopamine and serotonin.
